And with an electrical item like this, I would definitely not want to give you incorrect information. All that said, from the information I can ascertain by searching the internet, it would appear that typically the copper post would be for the positive and the steel or non-copper would be the negative. I am sorry that I can't be of any more help and I would suggest you contact an electrician or a dealer of circuit breakers to get the best possible answer.
